Workshops
A series of workshops are being held as part of a two-year technology transfer project between Stanford University and the Veteran’s Administration. The workshops are designed for informatics professionals and investigators who wish to explore this technology, as well as for project managers, clinicians, and software engineers who may be involved in using the technology to develop a Computer Decision Support System. The format of the workshop includes lectures, discussions, and activities designed to apply general principles to concrete problems.
I. Workshop on Using EON Technology to Develop
Clinical Decision Support Systems for Guideline-Based Care, June 7-8, 2005
This two-day workshop provided an intensive introduction to the issues involved in developing computer-based Computer Decision Support Systems guideline-based care. The focus was on the use of EON technology in the creation of ATHENA-like systems in the Veteran’s Administration Environment.
OBJECTIVES:To provide and introduction of the field of clinical decision support for guideline-based care.· To communicate the key technical issues in the use of EON through coordinated lectures that cover major topics· To reinforce the understanding of and facility in the uses of EON with discussions and exercises.
II. Automated Clinical Decision Support: Integrating ATHENA/EON/PROTÉGÉ with Veteran’s Administration Information Systems, July 12-13, 2005
OBJECTIVES: For Veterans Administration and Stanford Medical Informatics (SMI)-EON-ATHENA to understand each other’s decision support needs and capabilities.· To determine to what extent EON technology can fulfill at least some of VA’s decision support needs.· To determine what sort of evolution of EON technology is necessary to allow for EON to fulfill the designated Veterans Health Administration (VHA) decision support needs.
III. Guideline Modeling Workshop, March 23-24, 2006
The third workshop focused on the process of analyzing a clinical practice guideline so that the guideline can be encoded in a computer-interpretable knowledge base.Agenda and Workshop Presentation Material: /guideline_modeling_workshop.htm
